Active voice sentences in the simple past tense are given below. Change them into the passive voice.

In the simple past tense, passive verb forms are made by putting was/were before the past participle form of the verb.

Study the examples given below.

  • I praised him. (Active)
  • He was praised by me. (Passive) (Here we use was because the subject is the singular pronoun he.)
  • I invited them. (Active)
  • They were invited by me.(Passive) (Here we use were because the subject is the plural pronoun they.)
