Passive Voice Exercise for Class 10 KSEEB SSLC

We use the passive voice when it is not necessary or important to say who performed the action.

Here is a quick overview of passive verb forms in different tenses.

Simple present tense

Active voice: first form of the verb (v1)

Passive voice: is / am / are + past participle form of the verb (v3)

  • She feeds stray animals (Active)
  • Stray animals are fed by her. (Passive)

Present continuous tense

Active: is / am / are + ing form

Passive voice: is / are / are + being + v3

  • I am feeding my cats. (Active)
  • My cats are being fed by me. (Passive)

Present perfect tense

Active voice: has / have + past participle (v3)

Passive voice: has /have + been + past participle

  • I have finished the job. (Active)
  • The job has been finished by me. (Passive)

Simple past tense

Active voice: v2

Passive voice: was / were + v3

  • I cooked the meal. (Active)
  • The meal was cooked by me. (Passive)

Past continuous tense

Active voice: was / were + ing form

Passive voice: was / were + being + v3

  • I was wiping the table. (Active)
  • The table was being wiped by me. (Passive)

Past perfect tense

Active voice: had + v3

Passive voice: had + been + v3

  • I had sent the report. (Active)
  • The report had been sent by me. (Passive)

Simple future

Active voice: will / shall + v1

Passive voice: will / shall + be + v3

  • We will win the championship. (Active)
  • The championship will be won by us. (Passive)

Future perfect

Active voice: wil / shall + have + v3

Passive voice: will / shall + have + been + v3

  • They will have fixed the roof. (Active)
  • The roof will have been fixed by them.

Notes The present perfect continuous, past perfect continuous, future continuous and future perfect continuous tenses are not used in the passive form.
