Present And Past Participle Worksheet For Class 7

There are two types of participles – present participle and past participle. The present participle always ends in -ing. Examples are: singing, crying, waiting, looking, eating etc.

The past participle is the third form of the verb. It usually ends in -ed or -en. Examples are: wasted, tried, broken, written, walked, looked etc.

We often use participles as adjectives. Study the examples given below.

It is a boring movie. (Here the ing form boring acts as an adjective modifying the noun movie.)

It was an exciting offer. (Here the ing form exciting acts as an adjective modifying the noun offer.)

The wind swept away the fallen leaves. (Here the past participle fallen acts as an adjective modifying the noun leaves.)
