Change Simple Sentence Into Compound Sentence

A simple sentence has just one clause and one finite verb. A compound sentence has two or more independent clauses connected by coordinating conjunctions.

In order to change a simple sentence into a compound sentence, we have to expand a word or phrase into a coordinate clause.

• Running fast, I caught up with him. (Simple sentence)
• I ran fast and caught up with him. (Compound sentence)
