The present continuous is used to talk about an action or situation that is going on at the moment of speaking.
- She is reading now.
- I am cooking lunch.
- Dad is feeding the cat.
- Mom is watering her plants.
- Raju is doing his homework.
We make the present continuous form by putting is, am or are before the -ing form of the verb.
Use is when the subject is a singular noun (boy, girl, child, pen, school etc.) or pronoun (he, she, it).
- Sita is going to school.
- He is playing with his sister.
Use are when the subject is a plural noun (boys, girls, children, pens, schools etc.) or pronoun (you, they, we)
- The children are playing in the park.
- They are waiting for us.
Use am when the subject is the first person singular pronoun I.
- I am writing a novel.
