The following news story was published several years ago. Fill in the blanks to complete the passage.

Notes

The present perfect is the most normal tense for giving news of recent events. Note that the present perfect is not used if we say when it happened.

After using the present perfect to announce a piece of news, we change to simple past or past continuous tenses to give the details.
