Adverb Clauses Exercise For Class 8

An adverb clause serves the same purpose as an adverb. Adverb clauses are subordinate clauses. They give additional information about the verb in the main clauses. Adverb clauses usually express ideas such as time, manner, frequency, condition, contrast, place etc.

We use several different conjunctions to introduce adverb clauses. Some of them are: when, while, as, where, since, because, so, if, unless, whether, until, before, after, though, although etc.

Underline the adverb clause in the following sentences.

1. I don’t like to be disturbed when I am working.

2. He sat there smiling as if he was the boss.

3. I waited because I wanted to talk to him.

4. Since you are my friend I will help you.

5. If you have rich and influential parents you will not have to struggle much in life.

6. Though he is my friend I don’t trust him.

7. You cannot go home until you finish your job.

8. As I was free in the afternoon, I decided to watch a movie.

9. I visit my grandparents whenever I can.

10. She started trembling because she was afraid.
