The subordinate clause usually begins with a subordinating conjunction or relative pronoun. Common subordinating conjunctions are: as, since, because, though, although, even though, even if, until, till, when, after, while, before, if, whether, unless etc.

Common relative pronouns are: who, which, that, whom, whose etc.
